I design for both the web and print media. I like to focus on crafting branding, making local businesses look like a million bucks.
I am also a Corporal in the New Hampshire Army National Guard. My job with the Army is medical, flying in helicopters and saving wounded soldiers and civillians. I recently returned from a year-and-a-half tour of duty in Iraq.
In my spare time I enjoy making music with my friends CJ and Jeff, as well as a fine cigar and a glass of port.
I was born at an early age, back in the 80s in the village of Worchester, Mass (its pronounced 'Whistah'). My family moved to the deepest, darkest woods of Maine when I was five. My childhood was happy and active, filled with wild expeditions through the forest of my back yard. Eventually I came into contact with my first computer, an Epson NX 66 MHz running windows 3.1 - state of the art. After which my life became a little bit more sedentary. I spent many hours pushing pixels in paint brush and modifying the art in various shareware games (you know the kind you'd buy at Radio Shack - the kind that came on diskettes).
During high-school, I was allowed to take art a year early, and was often asked to create various pamphlets and flyers for school functions. I continued with art all throughout high-school and had my art selected and featured in several state-wide shows. During my junior year of high-school I received my first freelance job from a local bed and breakfast, crafting a website.
In 2001 I started taking classes at the University of Maine at Machias. My goal was a bachelor degree in intermediary fine arts with a concentration in visual communication, which is a fancy-shmancy way of saying "graphic design". I was privileged to be a student of some great professors, including Bernie Vinzani and Greg Henderson. My art and photography won awards and was featured in the campus gallery. I was featured in the UMM Art Department Brochure.
After college, I moved to New Hampshire and started my freelancing. I was able to work with some great businesses and excellent CEOs crafting everything from simple presentations to complex corporate identities. In 2004 I joined the United States Army Reserve. I've been able to travel to several countries since joining and was honored to help the citizens of Mississippi and Louisiana after hurricane Kartrina in 2005.
In 2006 I was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq with a local National Guard unit. My mission was detainee healthcare. I spent more than a year in the Middle East and almost two years away from home. Upon returning, I shifted my focus from being a full-time graphic artist to becoming a doctor.
I still love art and design and plan to do freelance work on the side as long as possible. Someday, I'll be able to fix your website and your headache!
